How the Lion Became the King of the Jungle

How the Lion Became the King of the Jungle
By Tanisslous Robertson

It was a cold and fresh morning. The sun came up lightly and beautifully.
A little cat stood there, trying to stand as tall as Mount Everest. Trying to be brave, he leaps out into the air. Sadly he gets hit by a branch. He stood up and said to himself, “Man, I really want to be as big as the other animal around me. I hate being so small.”
Around the little cat were all the big and bulky animals. He felt small and felt like he didn’t belong there in the beautiful forest. He didn't want to leave because if he did, he wouldn’t survive. Because he was so small, he always had to starve and eat grass. He said to himself , “If I don’t get bigger I'll kill myself that’s it.”

One day, in despair, he looked up at the sky and prayed for something to help him to get bigger or at least stronger. He kept praying and praying but nothing happened. He thought that God hated him or something because nothing seemed to work.

Then, one day he was eating a patch of grass and a ghost or a wizard (or something) popped up. He looked as if it was rich in soul, because his eyes were silver and old. Straight away the little cat knew this wizard-creature controlled the forest with his mighty power. It said to the little cat, “Have you tried killing tigers? Then you will become bigger and you will be called a mighty lion not a little cat.”

The cat thought about it and then did what he was told. He kept trying to kill tigers and he realised that they more he tried, the stronger his bones were getting, and the bigger he was growing!

iSoon, he was big enough and strong enough to kill a tiger. The other animals were now afraid of him. Now he knew he was a lion, because he had become the KING OF THE JUNGLE!

The End
